John Locke and "The Enlightenment"
John Locke was one of the influential thinkers during the enlightenment. His ideas heavily influenced Thomas Jefferson when he created the United States Constitution. The rights that Thomas Jefferson is talking about is all men are created equal and they have the rights to Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of Happiness. The right to Life is that everyone has the right to live their life. The right to Liberty is that everyone can do what they want according to their will. The right to Pursuit of Happiness is the right to pursue the things you want to do. These are the rights Thomas Jeferson was talking about in the Constitution. According to the Constitution the government comes from the people. The power of the government comes from the people who are being governed.
